How To Become A Princess

Often during imaginary play a young girl’s fantasy is to be a beautiful princess in a grand castle, to wear gorgeous diamonds and beautiful clothes.  Let’s step out of our fantasy world and into the real world for a minute.

So how does one become a Princess in real life?

There are various ways to become a Princess.

(1) If you are one of the lucky ones whose parents (or grandparents) are members of a royal family, you can then become a princess.  A princess is simply the feminine form of a prince.

(2) Another way is – You can marry a prince!  So if a prince marries you, there is a possibility that you too can be crowned a princess!

Here are a few examples of commoners becoming princesses:

  • Princess Mary Donaldson (Denmark). Tasmanian-born and bred Mary Donaldson met her prince in a Sydney pub and, after a courtship of three years, married him with to become the Crown Princess of Denmark.
  • Princess of Wales Diana (United Kingdom). Prince Charles had known Diana for several years, but he first took a serious interest in her as a potential bride during the summer of 1980, when they were guests at a country weekend, where she watched him play polo.
  • Princess Letizia Ortiz (Spain). Letizia was a journalist before she married Felipe, Prince of Asturias, who is heir apparent to the Spanish throne.
